Why is an oil change so important?

Your car’s engine depends on oil to lubricate its moving parts, reducing friction and heat that can lead to engine wear. Over time, the oil collects dirt and debris, which can damage your engine.

At Auto Biz, our ASE Certified Mechanics will drain the old, dirty oil and replace both the oil and the filter with high-quality oil, ensuring your engine keeps running smoothly.

When should I get an oil change?

For most newer vehicles, an oil change is typically needed every 5,000 to 7,500 miles. Be sure to check your owner’s manual for the recommended schedule for your specific vehicle.

For older vehicles using non-synthetic motor oil, we suggest changing the oil more frequently, around every 3,000 to 5,000 miles.

How do I know if I need an oil change?

We recommend changing your vehicle’s oil at regular mileage intervals, but there are signs that may indicate you need an oil change sooner:

  • The “check engine” or “change oil” light comes on.
  • The oil looks dark and opaque. Fresh oil should be amber and clear.
  • Your engine is making unusual sounds, possibly due to sediment buildup causing friction.
  • Your vehicle’s performance has dropped, and you’re experiencing lower gas mileage.
  • You notice any oil leaks. If caught early, a leak can be easily repaired; if ignored, it could lead to major engine damage.
  • Your vehicle is overheating. Clean oil reduces friction and helps keep the engine cool.

How long does it take to change my vehicle's oil?

When you schedule an appointment, our ASE Certified Mechanics will change your oil and replace the filter with OE/OEM parts in about 45-60 minutes. During this time, we’ll also perform a complimentary preventive maintenance check, which includes inspecting your brakes, tires, steering components, scanning for any codes, and checking for leaks—all aimed at extending the life of your vehicle.

Once your oil change is complete, we’ll place a handy sticker on your windshield with a QR code. When it’s time for your next oil change, simply scan the code with your phone to easily book your next appointment. It’s that simple.

What is an ASE Certified Mechanic?

At Auto Biz, we take pride in employing ASE Certified Mechanics—but what does that really mean?

ASE stands for the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence, an independent non-profit organization founded in 1972 to improve the quality of vehicle repair and service.

To become ASE Certified, our mechanics must:
✔ Pass a rigorous ASE certification exam
✔ Have at least two years of hands-on experience or one year of experience plus a two-year degree in automotive repair

Since automotive technology is constantly evolving, our ASE Certified Mechanics stay up to date with ongoing education and must retest every five years to maintain their certification.
